Students began the year by drawing dinosaurs with 6B graphite. Gesture drawing, light and shadow breakdowns, and then contour lines are used to create these dynamic works of art.
These artworks harken back to the days of traditional Cel Animation. Students used India Ink to draw their characters on the front of celluloid sheets. Then, with acrylic paint, the colors of the characters were applied on the back of the sheet. Finally watercolor backgrounds were rendered to set the scene.
What would it be like to make a drawing that came to life? Students explored this idea in these 12"x18" drawings done in graphite. Take a look through their imagination!
Story time! And you're the author. Students developed stories together and then made illustrations for their written portions at 12"x18" in graphite using two point perspective.
Students took selfies and drew these enlargements from 5.5"x8.5" to 11"x17".
