Four Service Delivery Components
Four Service Delivery Components
Individual Planning SMART Goal:
The Beverly Hills Intermediate Counseling Team set a goal to work with our admin team and staff to increase student attendance via incentives, home visits, individual conferences, and fostering a positive and welcoming school climate. A big component of this is the individual conferences and home visits which will allow us to work through the barriers preventing students from coming to school.
Guidance Curriculum SMART Goal:
Beverly Hills Intermediate counselors will deliver at least two lessons per semester based on feedback from school personnel. These lessons will be based on skills students need to be successful in both school and in general life. There seems to be a big need for conflict resolutions skills so some lessons will focus on this skill. By the end of the school year, 100% of students will have received these lessons.
Responsive Services SMART Goal:
All Beverly Hills Intermediate teachers and support staff were trained on restorative practice the previous school year. This year BHI teachers and staff will begin to utilize these skills in the everyday classroom. Many students are struggling with classroom behavior and interpersonal relationships.. Restorative practices is a trauma-informed based practice to help these students. If the student is unsuccessful at the classroom level, referrals will be made to the counselors to further assess the student's needs.
System Support SMART Goal:
Beverly Hills Intermediate counselors will train all teachers on 504 services and how to implement these plans into the classroom. Teachers will also be trained on the RTI referral process and how that relates to 504 and SPED.
Individual Planning Highlight:
In the years since the pandemic, there has been a noticeable trend in attendance. Some students are missing more frequently and for many more days each year. This causes major gaps in a student's academic progress as well as hinders their social-emotional skills. Beverly Hills came together and developed a plan to encourage students to be more present at school. BHI has always had incentives but this year, attendance was added as a requirement to participate. Students really enjoy these activities and it did encourage some of the frequent absentees to be in school more often. The Attendance Intervention Committee made home visits to students who were missing frequently. Counselors had individual meetings with families to find out what was prohibiting a child from attending school. Resources were offered to help overcome the barriers preventing students from coming to school. Our efforts led us to be one of the schools with the highest attendance rate in our district for the 2022-23 school year.
Guidance Curriculum Highlight:
One of the first lessons we offer to students is a Meet the Counselor Lesson. This gives the students an overview of who we are as well as shows them what services we can offer them. In addition, the students learn how they can request to speak with a counselor. We provide numerous ways they can contact us to meet the needs of different students.
Systems Support Highlight:
Beverly Hills Intermediate does many things to help students gain skills to be successful throughout their lives. Pasadena ISD offers some amazing opportunities to students as they go into high school. During 7th grade, all students complete a unit through their RLA classes to discover what skills and interests they have and then they research what careers would be match them. In 8th grade, the comprehensive high schools, Early College High School, and Career and Technical High Schools all come to meet with students and give them options for high school. The comprehensive high school comes to BHI and does an elective fair during lunch so the students see all the amazing options available in high school. We also meet with parents to give them information and help them decide on the best course for their children.
Responsive Services Highlight:
In January 2023, Beverly Hills was directly hit by an E3 Tornado while school was in session. Thankfully, no one was injured but the school building suffered some damage. Several of our families also had significant damage done to their homes. The counselors partnered with community businesses and organizations to offer food and supplies to those families in need. Members of the community also generously supplied families impacted with gift certificates to local grocery stores.

Parent Collaboration
At Beverly Hills, we feel that a strong relationship between families and school is vital to the success of students. Beverly Hills holds multiple parent events each year to foster this relationship. There are parent luncheons each year in an effort to inform parents of important information regarding BHI in addition to some fun parent/grandparent events.
