This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of Business Services job roles. It is likely that these individuals are establishing their own work performance.
Individuals in these roles carry out a range of routine procedural, clerical, administrative or operational tasks that require technology and business skills. They apply a broad range of competencies using some discretion, judgment and relevant theoretical knowledge. They may provide technical advice and support to a team.
It may lead to occupations such as a Secretary, Office Administrator, Data Entry Clerk or Personal Assistant.
This course is suitable for students who have a helpful and courteous manner, have a good eye for detail, have the ability to work with others within the workplace and possess good communication and excellent customer service skills.

ASSESSMENT:
This course is competency based and the student's performance is assessed against prescribed industry standards.

ELIGIBILITY FOR QUALIFICATION:
Students assessed as fulfilling the requirements for all the units in the 240 hour course will be eligible for Certificate III in Business. Students achieving at least one unit of competency will be eligible for an AQF Statement of Attainment showing partial completion of their qualification.
WORK PLACEMENT:
Students studying this VET course are required to complete a minimum of 70 hours work placement. This is a mandatory requirement of NESA. Failure to complete the mandatory work placement hours could jeopardise a student's eligibility to be awarded the Higher School Certificate.
Student's start and finish time will reflect industry standard, not school times.

DUTIES AND TASK OF OFFICE ADMINISTRATION
Sort and distribute incoming mail to areas and staff within the organisation and dispatch outgoing mail
Write business letters, reports or office memos using word processing programmes
Answer telephone and online enquiries from customers, attend to visitors and assist other staff in the organisation with their enquires.
Operate a range of office equipment such as photocopiers, computers and faxes
Undertake other duties such as banking, credit control or payroll functions.
