The entertainment industry is a diverse industry covering a wide range of occupational areas including audio, costume, customer service, front of house, lighting, props, scenic art, sets, staging, technical operations and vision systems. This course provides students with the opportunity to gain a range of general skills and knowledge suitable for entry to employment in live performance, theatre and events industries

ASSESSMENT:
This course is competency based and the student's performance is assessed against prescribed industry standards.

ELIGIBILITY FOR QUALIFICATION:
Students assessed as fulfilling the requirements for all the units in the 240 hour course will be eligible for Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services. Students achieving at least one unit of competency will be eligible for an AQF Statement of Attainment showing partial completion of their qualification.
WORK PLACEMENT:
Students studying this VET course are required to complete a minimum of 70 hours work placement. This is a mandatory requirement of NESA. Failure to complete the mandatory work placement hours could jeopardise a student's eligibility to be awarded the Higher School Certificate.
Student's start and finish time will reflect industry standard, not school times. Entertainment work placement may be at night time or on weekends depending on the type of work placement.
COST:
Student will be required to pay an additional cost for the Construction Indiction
(White Card ) course
Students will also be required to have black pants and shirt when undertaking backstage production.

A good ear for detail in all areas of sound
Aptitude for working with computers and audio equipment
Flexible attitude toward working hours and conditions
Able to work under pressure as part of a team
Interested in electronic sound an vision production, and recording equipment
Good technical ability and communication skills

DUTIES AND TASKS FOR A GRADUATE:
A sound technicians assistant may conduct microphone checks, ensure that the cables are properly plugged in and other tasks as directed by the sound technician.
Follow spot operators use specialised state lighting instruments to physically move a light to follow an actor on stage through the show. A follow -spot can move, change size, bean width, and color easily by hand.
lighting, audio & staging assistants perform a mix of basic lighting, staging & audio duties
Props assistants help to construct, shift, maintain and assemble props for theatre, television and film or for arts events.
Stagehands duties include setting up and operating the scenery, lights, sound, props, rigging, and special effects for a production.
