We are all made in God’s image (Gen 1:27) and God loves everyone. God has made us to know and love him and then to love others. We are all different but all spectacular, because God has made us all.
God has made all of us with bodies and spiritual souls. This is what it means to be human. Our soul allows us to love, choose, imagine, pray and talk to God and all the special things a human can do compared to animals and plants. What makes us different to each other is the colour of our hair, the length of our fingers, our skin colour, how tall we are. All these characteristics make us look different. We also have different likes and dislikes. But we are all humans and loved by God.
God loves each of us equally even though all of us are different and unique. There is no other you in the world. God has blessed all of us with strengths and talents. Some people are excellent painters, some are fast runners, others are great singers. We all have wonderful strengths and talents. We should thank God for our talents and strengths. Our talents and strengths have been given to us, so we can share them and be a gift to others. I can be a gift and using my painting skills to paint someone a beautiful picture, I can use my beautiful voice and be a gift to Jesus by singing to him, or I can be a gift to my team and use my talent to run fast so that I can score a try in the footy game. I can use my strengths to be a gift to God and others.

Sacred Scripture Passage(s)
Gen 1:27
God has made humans unique compared to the rest of creation. ‘Only humans can know and love God’ (CCC 355). God made humans with a body and spiritual soul. Both body and spirit are important. It is through the body that people can show kindness and love. If people didn’t have bodies then how could love be seen?
Our bodies are a magnificent creation, designed to be a ‘temple of the holy spirit’ (1 Cor 6:19), that means that God lives inside us, in our souls. God has given everyone a body. When we were born, we had small fingers, small toes, small hands and small legs. Everything was smaller. Now we are bigger and our bodies have grown too. Our bodies have been created by God in a magnificent way. Our bodies have a nervous system, skeletal system, five senses and many other amazing things. Our wonderful bodies have been given to us, so that we be a gift to God and through our actions be a gift to others.
Since we are made in God's image, our bodies are sacred and have to be cared and respected. God wants us to always stay safe and never be touched in an inappropriate way. See private and public body parts

How has my body changed since I was a baby?
What are things I can do now that I couldn't do when I was smaller, to be a gift to God and others?
Sacred Scripture Passage(s)
1 Cor 6:19
There are many significant friendships in our life. We have a special relationship with our parents. As a baby our parents did everything for us as we couldn't do anything. As we get older, we should be a gift to our parents and help them. We can clean up our toys, we can eat all our vegetables, we can help our parents by playing with our baby brother or sister. Our relationship with our parents is important and we should be listening more to them and helping them more. We should also think about everything our parents do for us and be more appreciative of them. When we were young we wanted everything our own way. Now we are getting older, we should learn to give and take better. We should be a gift to our friends by sharing our toys, being patient with our classmates, and spending more time with our grandparents and family. By being a gift to each other, our relationships grow stronger.
Another very important relationship is our friendship with Jesus. When we were young, we didn't know how to sit still, we didn't know how to read or write. But now we can do those things. Jesus wants us to sit still and pray to him. Jesus wants us to visit him in church. Jesus wants us to sing to him in our rooms, he wants us to read stories about him and write to him. Praying the rosary is another beautiful way we can ask Mother Mary to help us know Jesus better. These are many ways that we can be a gift to Jesus and thank him for being such a great gift to us.

God has made all people similar but also very different. All people are created with a body and a spiritual soul, which allows us to think, choose, pray, love.
God has also made people different, in a special way. God made males and females (Gen 5:2). God has made bodies of boys and girls different. There are some parts of the body that boys uniquely have and there are parts of the body that only girls have. These special body parts should be kept private.
There are many things that both boys and girls can do. Boys and girls can play sport, dance, sing, learn maths and english. When they grown up boys and girls can both work as doctors, nurses, teachers, scientists, accountants, chefs and work at home. There are many things both boys and girls can do. Boys and girls have a body and spiritual soul and God loves both equally.
There are some ways boys and girls are different too. When a boy grows up he will be a man. His body will get bigger, his voice might get deeper and he might grow a moustache.
When a girl grows up she will be a woman. Her body will also get bigger and she could have a special space in her body for a baby.
God loves both men and women equally. God makes men and women special. Men can be fathers, husbands, single or priests and women can be mothers, wives, single or religious sisters. God loves everyone equally.
What can both boys and girls do?
What are special things that Mum does?
What are special things that Dad does?
Sacred Scripture Passage(s)
Gen 5:2
Our bodies tell us very many things. Besides being aware of what our own bodies are telling us, we can observe what our people's bodies are telling us about their inner feelings. If someone is crying, we know they are sad. If someone has a cross face, we know they are angry inside. If someone is laughing, we know they are happy inside. We can know people's inside feelings, by observing what their bodies do.
We know Jesus love for us by looking at the cross. He loves us so much and shows us his love, by his words and actions.
Our actions with our body also have an effect on other people. If you offer someone a chocolate as a gift and they turn their head and ignore you, your nice feelings would turn to anger. But if they instead said thank you instead of ignoring you, your gift would make them happy and their thank you would make you happy too. Being a gift to each other strengthens friendships and makes everyone involved more happy, as being inclusive to all people is very important. But being non inclusive, selfish, angry and rude will make other people unhappy and this is not how God created us to act and live.
