Main Characters

She is 18 years old, with long dark hair, dark eyes, and pale skin. She is perseverant, fearless, and persistent, always assuming things will turn out well, and she rarely thinks about the bad things that could happen. Her struggle is controlling her ability to shift between the hospital and the castle, where her sister, Mary, is. In the end, she learns to control it, discovering that the castle was never a real place, but rather a part of her imagination trying to blur her past. While she's not truly fearful, she does take precautions before deciding to take any action.

Jordan is a really smart psychology student at Columbia. He is questionable, skeptical, caring, curious, and heartfelt. He cares a lot about his patient, Hannah, and wants to learn more about her for his project. He’s different from the other hospital people because he actually wants to help her and figure out her mysterious story. When Hannah gets upset, he tries to help her right away. The book says he is a good-looking young guy, around nineteen years old, but it doesn’t say much more about what he looks like
