Setting 

Mistborn is set in a dry world with a red sky and ash rains consistently. The tops of the houses run black with ash stained tiles in a medieval  style of building. One of the recurring places is Luthdael. Luthdael is an ash stained city with buildings three stories high in some areas. large keeps and castles are strewn about the city, which are the great houses where the important nobles live. At the heart of the city is Kredishaw, the Lord rulers palace. Kredishaw is a hill of a thousand spires and has many metal spikes protruding from the ground. The over all vibe dark and foreboding.
