Mistborn 

The theme of the Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson is that if you don't like something you can change it. One piece of evidence to help prove this is "Vin wasn't on duty ; the watch hole was simply one of the few places she could find solitude". another piece of evidence to help prove this is "Camon growled slightly, then raised his hand and backhanded her across her face". Vin was not on duty but hiding from Camon. So Camon in a fit of anger abused her because he was annoyed that she was hiding. this shows her before she wanted to change her life. Another piece of evidence to prove this is"what about you vin? She gazed back at him. Why is he asking me? He already knows that he has a hold over me. The job doesn't matter, as long as i learn what he knows. Kelsier waited. Im in Vin said." Another piece of evidence to prove this is "her copper on to hide her alomancy."  Vin joined kelseir's crew and learned alomancy because of it. This shows that she changed her life to join Kelseir's crew and changed her life because she did not  like her old one. These all help prove that the theme of the Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson is that if you don't like something you can change it.
