Unit 1 TESTS will be the first week in October. Review materials are available HERE already. Start studying!
Enthalpy and Enthalpy Diagrams
Heat Stoichiometry
Open the menu below for other vids by other teachers. These videos are NOT required, but do offer a different perspective on the topic if that helps!
FuseSchool - a very big-picture reexplaination of what I covered in my video. This vid is helpful if you want a simpler approach to start you off on thermochemical reactions.
The Organic Chemistry Tutor - another perspective of exo- vs endothermic topics.
Melissa Maribel - a new creator with her take on enthalpy stoich. Very artistic and stepwise approach.
Tyler DeWitt - a discussion and example of enthalpy stoichiometry. Tyler always does a great job!
Open the menu below for typed content, like in a textbook. Some prefer to learn from reading rather than watching. If that helps you these resources can be useful!
LibreTexts - a discussion on the differences between exothermic and endothermic. There is a great table midway through the entry that outlines different things to look out for when identifying a reactions as exo- or endothermic.
Fiveable - a study guide intended for the AP Chemistry exam. There is a great disc of enthalpy diagrams and how they are made about 1/2 down the page.
BCcampus - an online textbook's take on enthalpy stoichiometry. I think the vid does a better job than any textbook could, but this is another perspective if that is helpful!
Use the practice above to test your skills with endo/exothermic reactions, enthalpy diagrams, and most importantly, enthalpy stoichiometry!
There is NO lab activity for Section 2. We will measure enthalpy (ΔH) values using calorimetry in Section 3!
To prove mastery of this topic you will need to take a quiz on Schoology. Here are the guidelines:
You must show me all the completed work for this section BEFORE you you can start attempts on this quiz.
You can use any notes, practice, or prior quiz attempts to help you complete the quiz.
You can use ANY class resources like a calculator, your periodic table, or any other reference materials
You have UNLIMITED attempts to take this quiz, but after 4 tries you will need to take a paper version with me in class.
You should only need 2-3 tries for each quiz. If it takes more than that you should be reaching out for help!
You CANNOT work with others on the quizzes
