Unit 1 TESTS will be the first week in October. Review materials are available HERE already. Start studying!
Open the menu below for other vids by other teachers. These videos are NOT required, but do offer a different perspective on the topic if that helps!
Mr. Cousey - Another teachers perspective on the same topic. This guy is pretty famous in the chemistry lecture videos world!
Bill Nye - The Science Guy himself shares his knowledge on atomic structure. Some good info here, but mostly comedy.
Open the menu below for typed content, like in a textbook. Some prefer to learn from reading rather than watching. If that helps you these resources can be useful!
Boundless Chemistry - a really clear and well organized overview of the different parts of the atom and key definitions. Covers all the vid content really well!
ARPANSA - another take on nuclear structure from the Australian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Agency. This site has more examples of nuclear symbols
Hyperphysics - a chart that outlines how to correctly write a nuclear symbol. There is also tons of info here on nuclear stability for later in the unit!
Follow the link above to access practice for this section. FIll in the missing information on the table using the definitions we learned in this unit as well as the format for a nuclear symbol. Each pracice should have a key that comes with it.
If you are interested in EXTRA PRACTICE try this very similar problem set with new questions. There are answers for this set too!
Lab Activity
NO Lab Activity for this Section. Nice!
To prove mastery of this topic you will need to take a quiz on Schoology. Here are the guidelines:
You must show me all the completed work for this section BEFORE you you can start attempts on this quiz.
You can use any notes, practice, or prior quiz attempts to help you complete the quiz.
You can use ANY class resources like a calculator, your periodic table, or any other reference materials
You have UNLIMITED attempts to take this quiz, but after 4 tries you will need to take a paper version with me in class.
You should only need 2-3 tries for each quiz. If it takes more than that you should be reaching out for help!
You CANNOT work with others on the quizzes
