Unit 1 TESTS will be the first week in October. Review materials are available HERE already. Start studying!
In this unit we will explore how atoms are put together along with the scientists that helped lead us to all this knowledge.
In the beginning of the unit we will learn about a list of scientists who's combined work brought form the basic discovery of the atom to the very complex, quantum-mechanics representation of atomic structure that we use today.
Once we learn the historical side of the discussion, much of the early unit will be review, covering the basic components, structure, and models of the atom. You have likely seen most of this in previous science classes.
The last part of the unit deals with Nuclear chemistry. These are reactions where the nucleus of an atom changes, making for very different reactions that what we will see later in the year. Here is where we get to talk about radiation, power plants, and nuclear weapons, making for an exciting way to wrap up the unit.
