Unit 1 TESTS will be the first week in October. Review materials are available HERE already. Start studying!
These videos are NOT required, but do offer a different perspective on the topic if that helps!
Duell Chemistry - this is a really nicely made video that covers why stoichiometry work AND has a great example of how to actually do the work. This is a new content creator for me, and I really like his work!
HeyMissChem - another new creator! This video jumps right into an example problem. This would be nice to follow along with while solving practice for my class!
The links below are sites with written descriptions of this content. Some prefer to learn from reading rather than watching. If that helps you these resources can be useful!
Reference Materials
Stoichiometry Graphic Organizer/Template - this graphic organizer help you better visualize the steps in a stoichiometry problem. Use this if you prefer graphic organizers to help you solve problems.
Stoichiometry Steps - this document walks you through how to do a stoichiometry calculation step-by-step. Use this if you prefer written instructions to follow.
Answer the question linked in the doc above in your composition notebook. You will have to do calcs from both Section 3 and Section 4.
Questions in the begining have a lot of support and cues to help you get started.
Later questions have less or no help to test if you are learning!
In this lab you will run 2 very similar reactions that both produce regular table salt, of NaCl.
We will use stoichiometry to predict how much product each reaction will form and THEN really run the reactions and collect a real product
We hope to see the predictions closely match the product really made to provide evidence that stoichiometry calculations really work!
To prove mastery of this topic you will need to take a quiz on Schoology. Here are the guidelines:
You must show me all the completed work for this section BEFORE you you can start attempts on this quiz.
You CANNOT use any notes, practice, or prior quiz attempts to help you complete the quiz. This quiz is CLOSED NOTES!
You CANNOT work with others on the quiz.
You CAN use ANY class resources like a calculator, your periodic table, or any other reference materials. These are often lined on the quiz itself.
You should also have you Nomenclature Summary Doc you made for ht lab activity in this section.
You have 5 attempts to pass this quiz.
Do NOT take multiple attempts at once if you are not sure why you got questions wrong.
Do NOT take another attempt if you got the same grade again.
DO see Mr. Kiefer for help and to go over previous quiz attempts.
You should only need 2-3 tries for each quiz. If it takes more than that you should be reaching out for help!
