Welcome to Unit 2! Check Schoology for new due dates! All work done by the end of MP1 (10/31)!
Open the menu below for other vids by other teachers. These videos are NOT required, but do offer a different perspective on the topic if that helps!
Mr. Cousey - Another teachers perspective on the same topic. This guy is pretty famous in the chemistry lecture videos world!
Professor Dave - another great content maker in the chemistry world. Similar to my video with some more production value!!
Open the menu below for typed content, like in a textbook. Some prefer to learn from reading rather than watching. If that helps you these resources can be useful!
Boundless Chemistry - a really clear and well organized overview of the different parts of the atom and key definitions. Covers all the vid content really well!
ARPANSA - another take on nuclear structure from the Australian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Agency. This site has more examples of nuclear symbols
Hyperphysics - a chart that outlines how to correctly write a nuclear symbol. There is also tons of info here on nuclear stability for later in the unit!
The practice linked above will give you some practice with finding information on the periodic table as well as putting together and interpreting a nuclear symbol.
OPTIONAL - MORE Practice - If that last problems set wasn't enough, here is MORE!! Answer key provided!
This is an online lab activity using a simulator created by the PheT program out of the University of Colorado. They make tons of great stuff!
This is unfortunately how a lot of our labs in Unit 2 will work. Nuclear Chemistry is dangerous!!
To prove mastery of this topic you will need to take a quiz on Schoology. Here are the guidelines:
You must show me all the completed work for this section BEFORE you you can start attempts on this quiz.
You can use any notes, practice, or prior quiz attempts to help you complete the quiz.
You can use ANY class resources like a calculator, your periodic table, or any other reference materials
You have UNLIMITED attempts to take this quiz, but after 4 tries you will need to take a paper version with me in class.
You should only need 2-3 tries for each quiz. If it takes more than that you should be reaching out for help!
You CANNOT work with others on the quizzes
