Waltz: a dance born in the suburbs of Vienna and in the alpine region of Austria. As early as the seventeenth century, waltzes were played in the ballrooms of the Habsburg court. The weller, or turning dances, were danced by peasants in Austria and Bavaria even before that time. History of ballroom dance is filled with important dances and moments when new styles totally transformed dancing fashion and enabled total transformation of the popular dance culture. One of the most influential dances that managed to do just that is waltz, that was first danced in location of modern Germany and Austria between 13th and 18th century, before managing to reach modern ballrooms where it revolutionized dance fashion and becoming one of the most popular dances on planet Earth.
The waltz was later separated to make two different versions of its kind, the Modern Waltz and the Viennese Waltz. The Viennese Waltz is extremely fast pace and more electric version of the modern waltz. The Modern Waltz dance is a slow moving dance with a slow tempo song. The biggest difference between these two waltzes is the speed and tempo that they are danced to.
