A Grade Point Average (GPA) is a measure of academic achievement, based on the final grades a student earns in a course. The school will compute and post an official grade point average in Genesis, under Grade History, at the end of each school year. A 7th Semester GPA will be calculated for seniors for the purpose of sending mid-year transcripts to colleges and determining the valedictorian.
Honors Course Weight = +0.75
Advanced Placement (AP) Course Weight = +1.50
Standard Weight: College Prep (CP), Basic, Resource Room
Full-Year Course = 5 Credits
Semester Course / 1/2 Year = 2.5 Credits
Quarter Course = 1.25 Credits
Determine the quality points for each course by multiplying the grade points for letter grade by the number of credits the course is worth.
Add those results to get total quality points.
Divide the total quality points by the total number of credits. Note: Do not include credits for pass/fail courses, incompletes or withdrawals.
Notifications: Honor Roll and High Honor Roll status will be indicated in the Genesis Parent Access within approximately ten days of end of each marking period.
Grades for all subjects will be used in computing Honor Roll status. Students would be ruled ineligible for both honor rolls if they had any unexcused absences or school suspensions for that marking period.
High Honor Roll: High achieving students will earn High Honor Roll status if they attain “A”s in all subjects (A-, A, A+) in an academic quarter.
Honor Roll: Students will earn Honor Roll status if they attain a minimum of three “A”s (A-, A, A+) and no remaining grades lower than a B minus (B-) in all subjects in an academic quarter.
