SAT School Day: The digital SAT uses adaptive testing and is composed of two sections: Reading / Writing and Math. Students have 64 minutes to complete the Reading and Writing section and 70 minutes to complete the Math section for a total of 2 hours and 14 minutes. The SAT assesses critical reading, math problem-solving, and writing skills. Scores can be used to apply to colleges/universities and to help students qualify for scholarships. Schools must offer SAT School Day Test, but students are not required to participate.
PSAT (Preliminary SAT)/NMSQT: the digital PSAT/NMSQT measures the skills assessed on the SAT (critical reading, math problem-solving, and writing skills) and serves as practice for the SAT test. It can also qualify tests for the National Merit Scholarship Program and other scholarships. The PSAT/NMSQT takes 2 hours and 14 minutes and consists of 2 sections: (1) the Reading and Writing Section, and (2) the Math Section. Schools must offer PSAT, but students are not required to participate.
