Tips for Home Learning

Create a simple schedule that works for your family. Keep in mind that you don't have to stick to normal school hours. Use evenings or weekends if you need to!

Establish an at-home work space. Organize resources and materials in this space so that what you need is easily accessible. This should be a different set-up than where students normally play games or watch television.

Clarify expectations for device use during work time. Put the cell phone aside, and use a more a school-oriented device, such as a laptop, Chromebook, or iPad.

Make sure students take plenty of breaks in order to get physical activity and time away from screens. You can use this time to do some elective work or just get outside!

Parents

Monitor your student's level of engagement and interest. Ask them questions and have them explain what they're learning. Check in with other parents. Share successes, tips, and concerns. You are an important piece of the puzzle!

Students

Speak up about any issues you are having. Check in with your classmates. Message your teachers with questions and concerns. Be a participant, be a responsible digital citizen, and keep growing!

Everyone

Remember we're all learning together. Have a plan, but give yourself and others grace. Share your learning as much as possible. Without a doubt, this is a challenging time for everyone, but we will be better together!
