The Collaborative Educator Badge is awarded to individuals who embrace the ideals of Professional Learning Communities. These educators understand the value of TEAMWORK, COLLABORATION, OBSERVATION, REFLECTION, and DATA ANALYSIS. They go to great lengths to work together so that ALL students can be SUCCESSFUL. Their focus is on high levels of LEARNING and GROWTH for ALL.
The Collaborative Educator Badge is earned after a teacher earns each of the four pins below:
SMART Goals Pin -- The first step in a productive, collaborative partnership is the development of SMART Goals, that focus on results, not activities. This goal will focus the work of the team and will help to develop a results-oriented team culture. Teachers are eligible for this pin when their SMART Goal worksheet is submitted to the principal.
PLC Pin -- This pin is earned by actively participating in PLC meetings. In these meetings, data analysis and collaboration are paramount as plans are developed to help all students be successful. A teacher may earn this pin after successfully submitting data analysis protocol sheets NINE times.
Learning Walk Pin -- This pin is earned by participating in a Learning Walk. Learning Walks are designed to help teachers get into the classrooms of colleagues and observe best practices. The walks are not critical but are designed to stimulate reflection and conversation. A teacher may earn this pin after participating in TWO Learning Walks.
Model Classroom Pin -- It is sometimes unnerving to be observed by colleagues. It is also empowering as this simple act is a powerful tool for school improvement. A teacher may earn this pin when he/she has been observed by colleagues in a Learning Walk TWO times. Teachers who are willing to open their classrooms for Learning Walks are certainly collaborative educators.
