Counselors are people you can turn to when you need help. We are good listeners and want to help you get the most out of school. Counselors help students handle many types of problems.
For example, they can help if a student is...
...new to the school and doesn't have friends yet
...upset about a family problem, such as divorce or death of a loved one
...having trouble concentrating on homework
...having friendship troubles
...feeling nervous about what to expect next year in middle/ high school
If you're experiencing any stressors, a great person to share your thoughts and feelings with is a counselor.
Meet privately with a counselor weekly, biweekly, or briefly. This is a safe space to work on a new skill.
Some counselors have special group meetings for students who may be struggling with similar issues — divorce in their family, impulsivity, social skills, etc.
If you want to speak privately with a counselor you can always ask your teacher, your parent, or someone in the front office and they will direct you to us.
