Speech and Language Support at TCS
As contracted through Palliser School Division, Trinity has access to speech language support. When students need support for speech (articulation) or language, as determined by teachers and parents, the speech language pathologist will provide intervention about once or twice a month for a period of time. Sometimes an Educational Assistant can also provide some time to practice skills at school.
Below, you will find Parent Resources. Sharing information is part of the TCS commitment to partner with parents to provide resources and connections to help parents support their child.
Most of these are from sources outside of TCS, so please use your discretion.
The Talk Box was put together by speech-language pathologists to share ideas with parents about creating language-rich environments for children. It has everyday tips, information about what to expect in speech and language development, when to get help, and where to get help. This information is shared in newsletters, activity sheets, and information sheets. It is meant to be a resource for any parent, but is not meant to be a substitute for a speech-language pathologist.
“Talking is Key” explains how children from 3 months to 5 years old learn language and gives tips for parents to encourage language learning. Parents can help their children become good communicators, even if learning to speak in more than one language. The word “key” means “important.”
The "Talking is Key" and introduction videos are available in English and 11 other languages: French, Amharic, Arabic, Cantonese, Cree, Dinka, Farsi, Mandarin, Punjabi, Spanish and Tagalog. Click here to find the video in other languages.
