Students will improve their cardiovascular conditioning through running daily. They will improve their flexibility through daily stretching routines. Students will be exposed to nutritional ideas to better their daily dietary habits and be able to perform a physical education battery of fitness tests including push-ups, sit-ups, pole climb, mile run and numerous agility tests. Students will participate in solo, duo and/or team sport endeavors and improve In gross motor skill coordination. Students will take written tests based on various sports rules and also fitness knowledge.

The major emphasis of this course is on enabling students to use the body creatively as a means of communication and expression. The dance instruction encourages the student, to explore time, space, force, design, and rhythm patterns through movement; and all levels of dancers will be challenged to explore their artistry. As they gain experience learning varied genres of dance, students will have an opportunity to develop and improve flexibility, strength, endurance, balance, and coordination. Many dance styles will be explored, and students will have the opportunity to work with many professionals in the dance community.

Prerequisites: Students must be able to swim and will be required to take a water safety test.
This course is available to students who are interested in learning to surf or improving their existing surfing skills. Thanks to PCHS's location, students will be using the Pacific Ocean.

YOGA

Yoga is an advanced PE course where students will focus on understanding and controlling the body, breath, and mind through postures/positions and breathing.
HIKING AND WALKING

Prerequisites: Previous PE coursework at PCHS.
This course will use the fabulous location of PCHS to help students develop a life-long skill and interest in walking/hiking. It will include heart-rate data collection and goal setting, as well as basic naturalist information, such as bird and plant ID.
