As part of Paideia School’s iPad program, each student in the 5th-8th grade classes may be issued an iPad, and 9th grade students are issued a Macbook for high school use. The iPads, MacBooks, and provided apps are the property of Paideia School and are intended to support the learning and communications environments of the school
Paideia School will provide technical support if the unit is damaged during normal instructional use or for technical problems with applications installed for educational purposes. All documents and files should be backed up in a separate location and are not the responsibility of the technology department. A “total restore” method (wiping it clean) will be used as the primary means of technical support.
The student agrees:
to be responsible for the unit at all times.
to never exchange devices with another student or allow anyone outside of the Paideia community to use the device.
to maintain the unit in its fully operational, preconfigured operating condition. Student agrees to remain in compliance with Paideia’s mobile management system. Any technical issues should be reported to the home base teacher or the technology department as soon as possible. Do not attempt to make any physical repairs to the device.
to only use the assigned school-issued Apple and/or Google ID on the device. Students should not attempt to log in with a personal Apple or Google ID or sync their devices with a computer.
to obtain permission from a homebase teacher before downloading any apps (as well as games and music).
to maintain the appearance of the unit. Screens should be cleaned only with approved cleaning towels. Students should not apply any permanent marks, decorations, or modifications to the device.
to keep devices away from food and drinks. The provided case should be on the device at all times.
to charge the devices before coming to school. Devices should only be charged with compatible chargers.
to routinely back up the information on the unit. Paideia is not responsible for the loss of data.
to use the machine for personal communications, document creation, and applications that are consistent with the Technology Acceptable Use Agreement of the Paideia School (available in the Technology section of www.paideiaschool.org). Paideia School staff has the right to inspect the device at any time for appropriate content.
The parent agrees:
iPad and Macbook insurance is included with your tuition. There is a deductible for insurance claims. After two incidents, you will be responsible for the repair/replacement cost of the device. Insurance is really essential, and the device cannot go home without it. *If you receive financial aid from the school, you will pay the same percentage for the insurance that you do for tuition.
Loss or intentional damage of a device is not covered. In the event your child loses his/her device, or renders it inoperable by taking it apart, attempting his/her own repairs, or otherwise damaging it, you are responsible for the repair/replacement cost.
The devices will be Wi-Fi enabled. While on campus the device will have the same filtering as student Internet access. For Internet access away from school, wireless at home or a hot spot will be needed. Paideia has no control over Internet filtering or the lack of filtering off campus. Programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, tutorial programs and eBooks can be used with or without Internet access.
Paideia School has the right to issue/recall a device at any time with a reasonable allowance of time to remove personal data. Failure to comply with this contract can result in the loss of device privileges.
Parent/guardian agrees to his/her child using websites and online accounts chosen by the teachers.
