The Scouting Uniform
Cub Scouts have a uniform that they wear to reflect their rank and achievements. The Lions cubs (Kindergarten) have a t-shirt and hat, while older dens have a more traditional uniform.
Lion Scouts
Lion scouts wear a blue Lions t-shirt and a Lions cap.
Older Scouts
Cubs from Tigers through Arrow of Light wear a standard cub scout uniform that includes the following:
- Cub Scout Uniform Shirt
- Neckerchief
- Cub Scout cap
- Scout Belt
- Uniform Pants or shorts and Uniform socks (optional)
The uniform shirt is blue, though cubs that are Webelos or Arrow of Light (4th or 5th grade) may choose to wear a tan shirt instead. It is recommended to buy a larger size so that they continue to fit as the kids get older. The neckerchief and cap vary per Den. The Pack will have an event where we create neckerchief slides so that this expense can be avoided for families.
How do I wear the uniform?
The cub scout shirt includes council badges, the Pack Number, and rank advancement patches. For an illustrated guide, visit https://scoutsmarts.com/cub-scout-uniform-guide/
Red Felt Vest
The red felt vest is used to display event patches and other achievements earned by the scouts that do not have a place on the standard uniform. Some families opt to attach patches to the back of the uniform shirt, which is fine. A benefit to the vest is that it doesn’t need to be washed frequently and the patches adhere better if glued or stuck on (whereas they may wash off if added to the cub scout shirt).
