Events
Pack Meetings
Pack meetings are held about once per month on a Friday. These meetings are open to the full Pack and typically comprise of a flag ceremony to open the meeting, pre-planned activities or den-breakouts, and awarding patches and other achievements earned by the scouts.
Den Meetings
Den meetings are grade-level meetings that occur about once a month. These meetings are focused on required adventures and for kids of the same age to have fun together. Often, these meetings will be standalone events organized by the Den Leader, though occasionally dens will break out into individual groups during a Pack meeting.
Camping
Pack 233 holds overnight camping trips in October and May. During these campouts, cubs participate in a variety of activities, including BB gun shooting, archery, fishing, and crafts. Cub scouts learn how to set up a tent, raise and retire the U.S. flag and behave responsibly and safely in the outdoors.
Community Service
Several times a year, the Pack will support the community by volunteering in local organizations. We pick up litter at Watnong Park twice annually to support Morris Plains Clean Communities, volunteer at the recycle center, make Christmas cards for the local senior center, and participate in an annual food drive.
Outings
The pack organizes several events throughout the year, such as local sports games, Monster Jam, and hikes. In addition, dens may meet at local community organizations, the police and fire departments, and other locations.
Pinewood Derby
The Pinewood Derby is the most famous Cub Scout event and occurs in January. Cubs receive pinewood derby car kits and instructions to create a derby car that is raced against others in the pack. Pack 233 solicits support from community organizations to fundraise, whereby town companies create their own car and race against other local organizations.
