Dear Families,
This April, we are focusing on the Pillar of Fairness. Fairness is about treating everyone with equity and respect, listening to others’ perspectives, and making decisions that are just and kind.
Throughout the month, our teachers will lead discussions and activities that help students recognize the importance of fairness in their interactions and choices. Whether it’s sharing materials, taking turns, or standing up for someone being treated unfairly, we’re highlighting how fairness creates a stronger, more inclusive community.
Together, let’s encourage our students to be thoughtful and just in their actions, making our school a place where fairness thrives.
Thank you for your continued support!
With Gratitude,
Ms. Pryor
Pillar of the Month - Fairness
At our school, fairness is one of the core values we teach and model every day. Fairness means treating others with respect, listening to different points of view, and playing by the rules. It also involves sharing, taking turns, and being honest. By practicing fairness, students learn to build trust, resolve conflicts peacefully, and create a community where everyone feels valued and included.
I can show fairness at home by:
Take turns during games and activities
Share toys and materials with siblings
Listen respectfully during family discussions
I can show self-discipline at school by:
Follow classroom and playground rules
Include others in group work or play
Accept outcomes of games or decisions gracefully
I can show self-discipline in my community by:
Wait patiently in lines
Speak up when they see someone being treated unfairly
Follow rules at parks, libraries, and other public places
Learner Profile of the Month - Balanced
At our school, we help students develop a balanced lifestyle as part of the IB Learner Profile. Being balanced means recognizing the importance of well-being in all areas—intellectual, physical, and emotional. Balanced learners know how to manage time, make healthy choices, and take care of themselves and others. When students are balanced, they are better able to learn, connect with others, and face challenges with confidence and calm.
I can be reflective at home by:
Set aside time for homework, play, and rest
Eat healthy foods and stay active
Limit screen time and get enough sleep
I can be reflective at school by:
Stay focused during lessons and participate in physical activities
Manage time between work and social time
Use calming strategies when feeling overwhelmed
I can be reflective in my community by:
Join clubs or sports to explore different interests
Help others while also caring for their own needs
Practice safety and kindness in shared spaces
In our community we have had very important events this month!

This book written by Patricia Polacco shows how the narrator reflects on the importance of having a supportive and loving teacher. she thinks deeply about how her teacher has impacted her in such a meaningful way.
