Kay Bratcher was born and raised in a coastal town in England. A move for work brought her family to Stillwater, Oklahoma where she attended high school. She stayed in Stillwater and got her Interior Design degree from Oklahoma State University. After college, Bratcher worked for Hallmark Cards, Inc. in Kansas City as a designer for ten years before returning to Oklahoma and finding a home in Owasso. Kay decided to make a change to her career and after a mentorship with Mrs.Collins at the Owasso 6th grade center, managed to get her teaching certification. She began teaching at Owasso High School in 2015 and enjoys teaching Art 1, Art 2, Art History and Digital Art. Mrs. Bratcher also serves as the Visual Arts Department Chair for the district. Kay has a passion for printmaking processes which she enjoys sharing with her students each year.
Shelly Collins is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma and an Owasso resident since 2010 when she began teaching at the Owasso Sixth Grade Center. Shelly had the honor of serving as Teacher of the Year for the Sixth Grade Center in 2016. She is a graduate of Oklahoma Christian University where she earned a BFA in Advertising Design. Prior to her career in education she worked as a graphic designer and visual artist. With a genuine passion for all things creative she is an advocate for the visual arts. She considers it a privilege her work of empowering young people to pursue creativity and strives to instill a deep appreciation and love for the arts in each of her students.
Kerstin was born and raised in Sperry Oklahoma. She graduated from Sperry High School before she furthered her education at Northeastern State University. Kerstin received her BA in Art Education and started teaching at Owasso High School in 2020. She is dedicated to bringing knowledge and creativity to the minds of her students with an upbeat and expressive approach to teaching.
Meet Avery Chambers, a dedicated individual whose passion for public service and the arts has shaped an impressive journey of education and teaching. Born in Texas and raised in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Avery graduated from Sapulpa High School, laying the foundation for an extraordinary career ahead.
With a love for both public service and art, Avery's path led him to the fulfilling world of education, where he inspires and shares knowledge with young minds. Equipped with an undergraduate degree from Northeastern State University and a master's degree from Oklahoma State University, Avery's thirst for knowledge deepened his expertise in educational leadership.
For the past 13 years, Avery has been a devoted educator, leaving an indelible mark on countless students by fostering a love for learning and serving as a mentor and role model. As a board member of the Oklahoma Art Educators Association, Avery actively advocates for the advancement of arts education, empowering students to embrace creativity and enrich their academic experience.
Beyond the classroom, Avery expresses his passion for the arts through various creative outlets, inspiring themselves and others through painting, drawing, floral arranging, and other forms of artistic expression.
