STEM in the Valley is comprised of course sequences that address the educational needs of students planning on a post-high school educational program in a two-year or four-year college leading to a STEM career.
STEM in the Valley encourages students to explore and experience rigorous STEM coursework through a comprehensive curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, innovation and real-world problem solving. The hands-on, project-based program engages students on multiple levels, exposes them to a wide variety of topics and offers a strong foundation for achieving academic goals in any chose field of study. The flexible sequence of courses prepares students for college and career success in STEM related industries.
Students that complete all requirements of any STEM in the Valley are recognized as OVHS STEM Academy graduates at commencement.
Pathway course planning sheets support discussions and planning for high school course selection. They are offered as guidelines and tracking sheets to help students customize their program of study to best reflect their interests and meet their academic needs. All pathway course planning sheets include core graduation requirements and feature recommended courses and electives associated with each pathway. Pathway course planning sheets are offered as planning tools to encourage conversations among students, families and guidance counselors. Guidance counselors remain the best course of information regarding course planning.
