I accidentally left my notebook in the classroom. What do I do?

If you still need the notebook for homework, please complete the assignment on a separate sheet of paper. You can glue in your work when you return to class.
An extra copy of worksheet is found on Google Classroom for you to print extra copies at home

Is there an end of the year State Testing for Science?

Yes but it is only taken by 8th graders in middle school. The 8th grade end of the year California Science Test (CAST) will cover all science contents from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.

My older sibling did the Comprehensive Sexual Health Education (CSE) in 7th grade couple of years ago. Do we have to participate?

It is a California law that every middle schooler is given the opportunity to learn about the CSE and it is not specific to which grade level. OVSD has shifted when we push out this content to 8th graders instead of 7th graders since the 2020-2021 school year.

Can I turn in late work?

Always! Better late than never!
But please keep in mind that you will lose 10% each day it is late with a maximum penalty of 50% to be fair to those who completed assignments on time.

I was absent or had to leave the class early. What do I do?

When and if you are able, please check Google Classroom's stream for daily update on what we did in class and homework.
You are expected to complete ALL missing work unless otherwise stated within 2 days of your return without any penalty. Your missing assignment will be marked in red "Missing" on Aeries and Google Classroom with a note attached that says "Absent - Able to Make Up Work" until you complete it. Do NOT wait until you see the "missing" update on Aeries to complete work as it is easy to fall behind when you do so.
If you need help, you can contact me or ask me before class upon your return.

I missed a quiz/test. When can I retake it?

You may retake your quiz/test in the morning, during lunch, or after school upon your return. Please double check with me to make sure I am available so that it does not overlap with my duty and meetings.

I did my late work and turned in the late slip, when will you grade them?

If you filled in the Late Slip correctly/completely and turned it into the "Late Work" bin, I will grade them as soon as I can. Please know that you need to turn in the slip for both paper and VIRTUAL/ONLINE late assignments.

I submitted my work online 1 second after the deadline, does it count as late?

Yes. Unless you timely let me know of a technical or personal issue, an assignment is marked late if it does not get submitted on time past the deadline. More information about late assignment is in the class syllabus.

I did my assignment but it says it's missing or that it was late on AERIES. What do I do?

I am but a simple human being and I make mistakes. Please forgive me and let me know immediately so that I can fix it for you and you can get the grade you deserve and earned.

I did my assignment but it says it's missing or that it was late on GOOGLE CLASSROOM. What do I do?

Sometimes assignments are posted/assigned on Google Classroom as a good reminder but they are actually graded in the notebook or on separate paper instead of online. The most accurate place to check for your overall class grade is Aeries and NOT Google Classroom.
If it was incorrectly marked late, please see me immediately so that I can update you with the proper grade you earned.
