Our youth members who requested community gardens in Paterson were heard by the Paterson Community Builders team. The Paterson Community Action Plan developed as a result of the Community Opportunity Workshop in April 2025 states:
Our Strategies & Actions - Theme 5. Expanding Community Lifestyle and Infrastructure - Create Community Gardens in one or more locations in Paterson to grow and consume fresh produce, to improve community connection, increase mental wellbeing, and decrease loneliness.
Jo at the Paterson Country Cafe has requested a community garden be sited at the back of the cafe below the deck. What a perfect location!

On Monday 22nd July 2025, and initial team of local young people, supported by older mentors and Maplewood Permaculture, discussed ideas for the community garden. There were some great discussions, including a request to try to grow pineapples!
