Paterson Community Builders is a volunteer-driven initiative dedicated to strengthening community connections, fostering inclusion, and supporting local wellbeing in the village of Paterson, New South Wales and its surrounding areas.
Formed by local residents who believe in the power of community-led action, the group focuses on practical projects and grassroots collaborations that make a real difference in people’s lives.
At its heart, Paterson Community Builders aims to create spaces and opportunities where people of all ages can connect, contribute, and feel a sense of belonging. The group works closely with local organisations, service providers, and volunteers to respond to identified community needs. Its approach is inclusive, strengths based, and action-oriented, bringing people together to achieve shared goals.
One of its key initiatives is the “Pop-in” Community Hub, a welcoming drop-in space located at St Paul's Anglican Church Paterson. Open weekly, the Hub provides a warm, friendly environment where locals can meet, have a cuppa, share information, and connect with services. It also serves as a platform for activities such as craft sessions, wellbeing programs, and community information events. This initiative is supported by local volunteers, community groups, and partners including Rural Aid and Rotary Club of Paterson.
Beyond the Hub, Paterson Community Builders plays an active role in supporting broader community development goals — from youth engagement and heritage revitalisation to environmental projects and local economic resilience. The group collaborates with other community members to identify priorities and co-design initiatives that reflect local aspirations.
What makes Paterson Community Builders unique is its commitment to empowering the community from within. Volunteers are at the centre of every project, contributing time, skills, and local knowledge. Through practical action, kindness, and shared vision, the group is helping to build a more connected, resilient, and vibrant Paterson.
Paterson Community Builders welcomes anyone who wants to get involved — whether to volunteer, share ideas, or simply enjoy a sense of community. Together, they are proving that small towns can achieve big things through collaboration and care.
