Throughout the course of our program, Youth Tellers have participated in many ongoing discussions about art, social impact, and culture. Here are just a few examples!
San Diego Design week invite a few of our Youth Tellers to provide their insight into social media and it's relevancy within the younger generations. Check it out here!
Throughout the year, Youth Tellers were able to engage in conversation with Kylie, our social impact specialist as we walked through discussions on race & equity, the environment, gender & sexuality, the environment, and more. Conversations were spurred on by a curated list of podcasts which the Youth Tellers house on Discord.
The youth tellers were able to create and then present pitches for various ideas, whether it be new artwork for a mural, creating an online Gen-Z centric show, and more.
What do we want to say with our platform is an important question. But also, how are we going say it? Youth Tellers identified how they wanted to structure the information they would be taking in and implementing.
Many Youth Tellers sought more experience in Adobe Create Suite. We wanted to make a space where students could discover the many different platforms available to them - starting with Photoshop. Students participate in our 101 class with our educators Aaron & Alec!
We don't always get the chance to give our opinions on another's artwork. When we do, we want to make sure we are giving it in a way that can be received. It was important for us to discuss and learn how we as a group wanted to best give feedback on each other's art pieces.
Our intern Jasmine has headed up a discussion channel on our Discord where she encourages students to speak up and discuss various self care resources - from podcasts, to websites, to quotes, and more.
Students spent time conversing about the importance of creating a consistent brand across the entire platform.
