International Student Carbon Footprint Challenge. If any teacher or students would like to participate this fall, please contact me and I can help you register and negotiate the input of your data. In my view, the value of this carbon footprint among many good carbon footprints is that it is interactive and has history in Oakland. The data you collect goes on a map as your school average, that can be compared with schools all over the world. There is a moderated discussion forum for middle-to-high school students and teachers with an environmental justice thread that students can contribute to.

We really like the model of working with older students to prepare a lesson for younger students with on-site if possible, but can be completely virtual.

We have a monthly, online zoom program called Lakeside Chats. Oakland students have contributed small presentations to it several times. Next month's Chat will be about the geology of Lake Merritt and Oakland and will bring up topics of sea level rise, climate change, earth quakes. The speaker is Andrew Alden of Oakland Geology blog.
