The OUSD ECCL Team has been working to develop a vision and mission that can guide the work and empower individuals. We welcome everyone in our community to provide feedback on the draft mission and vision. Complete this form to share your thoughts.
Draft Vision: OUSD students identify as solution-oriented, critical thinkers who are equipped to take powerful action as stewards of our local-global community.
Draft Mission: Establish a climate literacy curriculum and environmental justice culture that grows OUSD student agency on all levels and into the future.
The Environmental and Climate Change Literacy Board Policy was passed on February 13, 2019. The impetus for this policy began with Oakland Tech students advocating to the board for climate change education.
The ECCL policy was passed along with its buddy policy the Living Schoolyards. We are working for additional policies and administrative regulations to support this work, including a passage of Sustainability Policy.
