As a district, Oakland strives to meet high QRIS standards. To that end, our program uses DRDP twice a year and uploads results to DRDP Online while also utilizing those results to inform practice because research shows that children who attend high quality programs are more successful in school, have lower dropout rates, and are better readers. The California Department of Education (CDE), Early Education and Support Division (EESD), has established the Desired Results System to improve program quality in early care and education programs across the state.

The Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) is an assessment to measure young children’s learning and development.
The state of California created the DRDP as part of their Desired Results system, a system to help improve services for children and families. The system measures progress on six “desired results”:
Children are personally and socially competent.
Children are effective learners.
Children show physical and motor competence.
Children are safe and healthy.
Families support their child’s learning and development.
Families achieve their goal
