The ECE Professional Development Plan includes scheduled professional learning opportunities for all ECE staff. These experiences are designed to support our shared department goals, strengthen teaching practices, and build a strong ECE community across PK, TK, and ECSE.
Our PD Goal for 2026-27: The ECE Department will practice, apply, and refine their use of culturally and developmentally appropriate practices within the context of the Focal Five to meet the social, emotional, and academic needs of our children so that they are ready for kindergarten.
The plan includes:
ECE Professionl Development Days (PD) – Scheduled professional learning days focused on ECE priorities (e.g. Focal Five), curriculum, assessment, and developmentally appropriate practices.
Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)- That provide time for collaboration, reflection, sharing ideas, and problem-solving around classroom practice.

PD Offerings are optional and paid professional development opportunities available to all ECE staff throughout the year.

Art and Dance, Assessments, Creative Curriculum, DRDPs, Dual Language Learners, Equity, Families, Implicit Bias, Inclusion, Language Development, Literacy, Math, Science, Social Emotional, Special Ed, Teaching Pyramid, and Using Data to Improve Student Learning

These self-paced training platforms offer high-quality professional development aligned with California’s early learning standards and competencies. Great for earning hours at your own pace.
A statewide system for tracking and supporting your professional development. Find trainings from various organizations, including required state trainings, Teaching Pyramid, DRDP, and more. Be sure to log your training hours here for credit.
California Preschool Instructional Network (CPIN) offers free online modules on Preschool Learning Foundations, Curriculum Frameworks, and best practices in ECE, including math, literacy, SEL, and dual language learners.
California Early Childhood Online offers free, self-paced ECE courses on topics like health & safety, child development, trauma-informed care, inclusion, and family engagement. Available 24/7 and aligned with state standards.
Essential for any teacher using the DRDP! Offers online modules and recorded webinars to support DRDP completion, observation practices, and analysis of child progress.
