The Creative Curriculum is a research-based, comprehensive curriculum for early childhood education, designed to support the holistic development of young children . It emphasizes learning through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences, while guiding teachers to create flexible, engaging environments that cater to children's interests. The curriculum covers social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development, using project-based learning and ongoing assessments to tailor instruction to each child's needs. Its adaptability and strong support for educators make it a widely used and effective approach in early childhood settings.
A pacing calendar is a tool that educators can use to pace their instruction and plan how long to spend on each study. Here you will find our Creative Curriculum Pacing Calendar for the 2025-2026 school year.
Creative Curriculum’s pacing is intended to be flexible so that children can explore topics more deeply or dive into areas that spark their interest. In addition to the pacing guide, teachers also have access to supplemental studies (see list below). Teachers should consult with their principals and Site Administrators if they believe an adjusted pacing would benefit their class.
The Creative Curriculum studies cover various topics. Each study is designed to engage preschoolers in hands-on, meaningful experiences that promote social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Here you will find resources (such as activity ideas, vocabulary cards, pictures, etc.) for each one by clicking the buttons below.
Upon teachers' request, we have created a list of additional books and chants that you can use with each Creative Curriculum study! Special thanks to Bernadette Zermeño and Maria Flores Lopez for creating this amazing resource.
