FOSS Assessment Resources
Administration of the interim: All interim assessments will be accessed through FOSS on ThinkLink. Teachers must assign the module/unit to their class in order to assign an assessment. Review this video on how to do that. Once the module/unit has been added to your classes, read this resource on how to assign the I-Check.
Scoring/Coding: Some questions will be computer scored; constructed response questions will need to be hand scored using the FOSS coding guides found in the Teacher Guide. To learn more about FOSS coding, read this resource.
Accommodations for students, standards-based reports that can be shared with students and families, and additional resources can be found here.
And why again curriculum-embedded interims?
Integrated into daily classroom instruction
Assesses the standards connected to what students are learning (and talking about) currently
Allows teachers to calibrates around standards-aligned student work
Encourages strong teacher planning practices:
Backwards planning toward assessments
Unpacking the skills and knowledge required
Students take the I-Checks with paper in partners or groups first to discuss the questions and answers together. Then students take what they discussed to the online platform and complete the I-Check individually. They could use their notebooks in both partner or group sessions. Teachers can review and/or print out a report from FOSS with suggestions for the next step that supports student understanding with a particular concept(s). Students can retake I-Checks individually.
Here is guidance that FOSS has shared about translating I-Check codes into grades.
