Number Talks

At St Martin's, we believe that being able to apply numeracy skills across a variety of real life contexts leads to being numerate and being able to function responsibly in everyday life and contribute effectively to society, with the aim of increasing our pupils opportunities within the world of work. We hope to provide our pupils with access to such opportunities by giving them exposure to a range of different strategies and methods for applying number processes. Pupils are given the chance to use their voice and share their own strategies with their classmates.

How do we use this in St Martin's?

Isabella and Cayden from P5/6/7 have been using number talks to develop their knowledge of different strategies. The videos below show the children using their chosen strategy to solve a question. Great explanations were given by both children!
