Otaua School is very fortunate to be so well-supported by our local community. Jeanette and Pam from Scarborough Fare (a privately owned local horticultural unit growing organically produced fine culinary herbs for the restaurant trade) bless us with organic vegetable seedlings which are grown in our raised beds. Keep an eye out on Dojo for notices of harvest markets! On this page you will be able to see photos of the ongoing work involved in caring for our gardens.
2022 Vegetable Garden Update:
What with one thing and another (i.e. building site and world-wide pandemic) the vegie garden has taken a bit of a back seat just lately...so it was just so lovely today to have this year's Nature Warriors working in the new garden beds today (17th March), chatting away as they learnt about the optimal depth for seedlings to be planted at and the lifecycle of the white moth. We're looking forward to watching these vegetables grow and, of course, harvest time later in the piece.2022 Vegetable Garden Update:
Today's planting included rainbow carrots, perpetual spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, parsley, garlic chives, pak choy...yum!
