About Me

All about me...

I went to the Eastman School of Music as a music education major. I play piano and trumpet. I really liked recording but they didn't have a program in it so I transferred to SUNY Fredonia where I pursued a double major in music education and sound recording technology. Upon graduation, I started teaching electronic music in Carthage, NY (go comets!). I got my masters degree from University of Texas at San Antonio. When I came back to NY I taught electronic music in some other schools before taking some time off to try out a career in computers. I worked in publishing, medical software, and finally educational software before I decided that I really missed teaching. I taught in some very interesting schools in NJ before coming back to NY. I was so happy to be offered a job in Oswego. I remember being excited that the district had a bus garage (the schools in NJ I worked for didn't have their own buses) and that there were farms everywhere (very little grass at all where I worked in NJ). I am currently trying to create an electronic music program at Oswego. My hope is that I can get the high school to offer classes in recording.

Who is Mrs. Myers the person? Well, let me tell you...

I live in Baldwinsville with my husband and 2 daughters, Chelsey is 15 and Piper is 1. We also have a dog named Shelby. I like to do out-doors things in all seasons. Skiing (snow and water), snowmobiling, hiking, swimming, bike riding, boating, jet skiing. I like all kinds of music but rap and country are not my favorites.

What can you expect from my class?

I like things calm and organized. Sometimes we get noisy but that's OK as long as its organized. I like students to be prepared and ready to make music. I like students to ask for help or I watch for confused looks. I like to mix up class and offer a variety of activities. I think its important for students to try everything we do. My ideal class would include singing, instrument playing, listening, and movement. I can usually work in all 4 or sometimes 3 out of 4. Parents, please encourage your kids to give 100% effort in everything they do! Our job as teachers is to help make that happen but we can't do it without your support at home.
