This school is very diverse in cultures and students but I will be focusing on the skateboarders on campus. Specifically, Elijah Wells. Skateboarding is a popular activity and staple of pop culture today, and Elijah Wells is one of our experienced skaters, who happens to be self taught. He is an eighth grader here at Stuart Mesa. Elijah says that as a kid, he remembered “ not having a lot to do or any hobbies he thought he was good at,” so when he was playing a skateboarding inspired game, he figured he wanted to learn how to do that. A few years later he got a skateboard, and taught himself how to use it through trial and error, and wouldn’t give up when he was faced with difficulties that came with the task.
What's going on in class at Stuart Mesa?
TK and Kinder
by Noah Cruz
As we continue to journey through the vibrant fall season, our Transitional Kindergarteners are making unforgettable memories through their engaging lessons and exciting experiences! Our dedicated and creative TK teachers are fostering an environment where learning comes to life, combining fun, interaction, and exploration in every activity. The month of November has been especially rich with opportunities for growth, as our little learners dive into a variety of hands-on projects that inspire curiosity, imagination, and creativity at every turn.
Mrs. Smith's Class
by Patrick Shaughnessy
Mrs Smith's class has buddies. These buddies see them every two weeks and they read together. These buddies look forward to reading together. Sometimes they are outside and other times they are outside in the grass.
I interviewed Gabriel Larkin and he said, “I enjoy buddies most because it makes the little kids happy and that makes me happy”. Another thing he mentioned is that his favorite book to read with his buddies is When the Old Lady Swallowed a Fly.
Mr. Francis' Class
by Rodney Bennett
Mr.Francis´s class had a brilliant sense of energy. As soon as I walked in, there were students enthusiastic to answer questions from the teacher. This month they were working on gratitude trees which can be an excellent way for students to really appreciate the holiday and a fun way for students to participate in class. They are also working on their times tables which is very necessary in later grades for math.
Mrs. GaNun's Class
by Hayven Cato
This Month in second grade they are doing fun amazing projects in class. Mrs. Ganun's class really liked making these chains and still got to add more on. It really makes us think, If second graders can be thankful, I can too. How are you thankful? What are you thankful for? In Mrs. Ganun's second-grade class, they made Thanksgiving Chains to show off things for which they are thankful. They all say they are grateful for their family. Leilani says, “ I love being at school and seeing friends. I'm thankful for all my friends and being able to play with them at recess.” Noah agrees with Leilani and says “ I also like recess, I like to go on the slide, play tag, and be on the bikes they have.”
Music Program Update
This month of November, the beginning band has learned many musical pieces such as Simple Gifts, Inception, Midnight Mission, and Dance of the Jabberwocky. Dance of the Jabberwocky is one of the many songs the beginning band has been learning this month. The song is composed by Rob Grice who was very talented in music and writing. The song depicts Jabberwocky, who is a fictional character from Lewis Carrol’s nonsense poem called, “Through the Looking-Glass.”
On Campus at Stuart Mesa
By Jerry Correa and Lucas Tran
Middle school is playing basketball for this P.E. unit! Students are shooting buckets left and right and having fun. While that happens, some people also try to dunk and almost make it. However, students mostly rely on layups because they are the easiest way to make points. For those who don't know the rules of basketball, the game's object is to score against the opposing team's basket, which can result in two or three points, depending on how far you shoot. You can also defend your opponent for a chance to steal the ball.

Mrs.Cruz is Stuart Mesa’s school librarian. She is a nice, funny, and caring woman. She ensures that the library is clean and safe, and most importantly, it is quiet or at a low level. Recently, Mrs.Cruz went on a much-needed vacation, and her friend (who she has been friends with for 10 to almost 11 years), came to sub for her for a whole week!

The color guard performed the Veteran's Day assembly on November 15, 2024. The color guard displays the Marine Corps history and accomplishments through the battle color, decorated with streamers.
These streamers denote the title of the awards and campaigns of the United States Marine Corps. They came to Stuart Mesa to show us what the veterans have done to deserve this day. The Marine Corps also celebrated their 249th birthday on November 10, 2024.
While everybody is gearing up for Christmas, people think that Thanksgiving is just there to be a break, and to the large percentage of the students here at school that is what they are going to leave thinking. However, celebrating veterans is very important because veterans are the ones who do one of the most important jobs there is. It is to serve our country and protect our people. Veterans Day was started because America ended World War I at 11:00 am on November 11, 1918. Veterans Day is a day to respect and honor those dead or alive who fought in war those who served in the military and those who are still doing their time in the military.
