I LOVE Seesaw! My favorite part about Seesaw is that you can use Seesaw to take pictures, voice record, or video students completing different tasks throughout the year! We only have the free version of Seesaw, so I won't use it a whole lot, but I will try to use it as much as I can throughout the year! Seesaw is a great way to start teaching students the appropriate use of technology and digital citizenship skills.
I can't wait to continue using Seesaw this year, and I hope that you enjoy using it, as well.
Basically, Seesaw is a learning platform that students, teachers, and parents can all use to "watch" a student go through school.Â
Students use Seesaw as a way to share what they know with many tools: microphone to record their voice, pen tool to draw pictures and write, camera to take pictures of their work, and video to record themselves performing a skill or explaining a concept.
Teachers use Seesaw to assess, gather data, help students create a learning portfolio, and so much more! I love getting to actually hear students talk and explain with the microphone. It is a much more accurate assessment tool because you can hear hesitations and self-corrections (things a paper assessment can't show!).
Using Seesaw to connect with parents is my favorite thing about Seesaw!
When you get the app and sign up with directions that I email to you, or scan a code at open house, you will see something that is similar to Facebook. When your child posts something or when I post a picture/video of your child's work, you will see what they did and you will be able to comment. Parents will only be able to see their own child's work.
I will send an email that will walk you through the steps to sign up, or I will also have a code that you can scan at Open House that will walk you through the process, as well. Easy!
