On Monday 4th January, your teachers will set work via your Google Classrooms - please complete and submit work following the instructions your teacher provides.
From Tuesday the 5th of January, your teachers will be delivering live online lessons following your normal school timetable.
To help you, they will post a Google Meeting link on your Google Classroom stream for you to click on for your lessons (it will be the same one for each lesson). Click here for a support video.
If you can’t access the lesson during this time (for example, your siblings are sharing the family computer) important sections of the lesson or other supporting videos will be posted for you to review in Google Classroom with work for you to complete.
The academy will be taking a register of attendance and checking work is being completed from the online lessons.
My teacher asked me to blur my background - what do I do?
When you click on the Google Meet link you enter a virtual waiting room. Before clicking on the JOIN button, click on the body in the bottom right corner - this allows you to blur your background during the lesson so your home environment is not shared with the class. Click here for a support video (how to blur your background starts at 1:04min).
I have not used Google Meet before - what do I do?
Click here for a short support video demonstrating all the basic features you will need to use.
How do I submit my work?
Listen carefully during the live lesson or read your teachers instructions carefully so you know what work your teachers require you to complete and how you must submit it.
Remember, there may be different instructions given in each Google Classroom.
What do I do if I’m having trouble logging in or with the work?
Try the process for logging in before your first lesson. Once you have done it once it will become easy for you.
Email your teacher for support - but remember, they may be setting up the lesson or teaching another lesson and may not respond immediately.
Ask your parents for help - another set of eyes can help find a solution.
Let your form tutor or the pastoral team know when they call to check on how things are going.
