Physical education is a daily program at OMS. It is an integral part of the school day in which the growth and development of the physical, mental, emotional and social characteristics of students are fostered through physical bodily movement and interaction with others. We will do a variety of units which will include fitness components, team sports, lifelong recreational activities and health concepts. Our emphasis is always on effort, attitude, participation and personal improvement. We understand we have varying level of skills and athleticism, therefore; we try to provide a wide range of activities that will allow all students to be successful no matter what their skill level or interests. Students will be given many opportunities to not only develop physical skills but social and emotional tools as well.
Health is a part of PE class. Students will be in a classroom setting for a 2 week period of time, 4 times each year. We cover a variety of topics of which most are state mandated. We will use supplemental videos for social emotional and mental health.
We will be using the Quest Curriculum (an abstinence-based program) for our 7th grade students. You will receive information regarding Quest prior to that unit.
Students will not need a notebook for Health. There will be in-class, hands-on activities and written work/projects (posters) during these Health units.
