All 7th grade students will be beginning a Health Unit with Mrs. Weller on October 31. This will take place during PE class. Students will need a notebook. There will be written work and a comprehensive test. Please read attached parent letter.

Dear 7th Grade Parents:

Starting the week of October 31, 2022, all 7th graders will be starting a Health Unit. Mrs. Weller will be teaching the Health unit which includes a program called “The Game Plan”. She has been specially trained in the curriculum. “The Game Plan” is an abstinence-based curriculum that covers the risks of being sexually active, aids information, peer relationships, self-esteem, and good decision-making. A variety of other important topics in mental, social and emotional health including underage drinking risks, vaping, risks, suicide prevention will also be covered. All students will need a notebook for Health class.

Please allow your child this opportunity to acquire information regarding sexuality and discover the answers to the many questions that he/she may have. We view this as an introductory unit that will open the door for parental discussion at home regarding these sensitive issues. There will be minimal homework questions that will involve parent’s input. Please take a moment to discuss these important issues with your teen. If you have questions about the " The Game Plan" curriculum or DO NOT wish to have your son/daughter participate in this portion, please email Mrs. Weller at nweller@orionschools.us.

Thank you,

Natalie Weller

We will be going outside for PE as long as it is 45-50 degrees. Please make sure your child is prepared with a sweatshirt if needed. (It does not have to be any certain color.) Also, if your child has a morning PE class, it might not be a bad idea to have an extra pair of old shoes and an extra pair of socks in his/her gym locker. The dew is very thick in the morning and the grass is extremely wet; their shoes and socks WILL get soaked!
