My name is Lyndsey Haars and this is my 1st year of teaching at Orion Middle School (my 20th year overall). I am so excited to be teaching at Orion Middle School and I can't wait to be your child's PE and Health teacher. My goal as an educator is to create a safe, positive environment in which every student feels able to participate, improve their physical skills and increase their health knowledge. I look forward to getting to know your child and helping them grow into their best self!
I grew up just north of Orion and graduated from Orion High School in 2002. Volleyball, basketball and softball were the sports I played throughout high school. I joined my older sister, Jacque, at Morehead State University in Kentucky to play softball in college. I double majored in Physical Education and Health Education, and graduated in December 2006.
After graduation, I moved back home and became a substitute teacher in several area schools. I also got a job coaching 7th grade Girls Basketball at Orion Middle School and was an assistant track coach for OMS that spring. In the fall of 2007, I started teaching PE & Health at AlWood Middle/High School. I coached softball and volleyball there for several years. I earned my Master's Degree in Health Education from Western Illinois University in 2015 and a month later married my husband, Bill Haars. I am also an American Heart Association certified CPR & First Aid Instructor.
When I'm not teaching or attending one of my kids' sporting events, I enjoy walking, lifting weights, tending to my houseplants and landscaping, making Shutterfly books, and spoiling my pets!
Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns. I am here to help your child in any way I can and open communication from you is essential.

My Family...
My husband Bill and I live just south of Colona; we have 2 sons, Jackson and Liam, and I have two stepdaughters, Brooklynn and Claire. We have a dog named Sookie and two cats, Toby and Oliver.
We are a VERY busy family and my favorite thing in the world (in addition to teaching) is being a mom! My children are involved in the following sports: soccer, flag football, volleyball, baseball, basketball, softball, and maybe wrestling. I love being their coach/cheerleader and seeing them do things they enjoy!
