About Early STEAM Oregon

What is STEAM?

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Many are familiar with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). STEAM, however, incorporates the arts, which provides the opportunity to engage both sides of their brains while learning. STEAM also encourages creativity and collaboration while problem-solving, which are important skills for innovation and learning.

What is Early STEAM Oregon?

Early STEAM Oregon is a collaboration between Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC) and the Early Learning System Initiative (ELSI)

The purpose of this collaboration is to create early childhood STEAM learning opportunities for Oregon's early learning and care professionals (and their coaches) through workshops, trainings, and communities of practice (CoPs). Our team is working to strengthen, support, and empower early educators in their continued learning, implementation support, and teaching skills in STEAM for children and families in Oregon.
