The West Bend School District is seeking to fill a German position for the 2024-2025 school year. This position would teach grades 5-12. More information about the courses and scheduled will be shared during the interview process. This positon will travel to three sites daily.
Our German program starts at the Intermediate School in Grade 5 and is taught through 12th grade at the High School. The World Language program seeks to promote linguistic and cultural literacy while cultivating a life-long appreciation and enthusiasm for languages and the cultures they reflect. We believe that all students can learn a new language and that a global mind-set is a necessity and an asset in today’s society.

ABOUT THIS POSITION:
The West Bend School District proudly serves over 6,000 students in the heart of scenic Washington County. The West Bend community delivers the conveniences of a large city with the beauty and recreational opportunities of the country only minutes away while the entertainment of the metropolitan Milwaukee area lies less than a half hour drive out. Our near-site health clinic located at the new Froedtert West Bend Clinic on Paradise Dr., is available for staff to access free of charge for a number of health services. Employees who have dependents (over the age of two) enrolled in the health plan can also use the clinic for free services. New teachers are well-served by our thorough mentoring program to put our newest team members in the optimal position to succeed.
NEW TEACHER INDUCTION
All new teachers to the West Bend School District will need to attend New Teacher Induction. New Teacher Induction dates are in August. Prior to New Teacher Induction all new teachers will be required to attend a Human Resources and Technology session. Upon hiring the dates of the Human Resources and Technology session will be provided.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be DPI Wisconsin certified in German, grades 6-12.
2. Must be knowledgeable in and utilize Differentiated Instruction, 21st Century Skills, PLC, RtI, PBIS, and Restorative Practices.
3. Must be comfortable working within a “multileveled” classroom (e.g. 4th and 5th year courses combined).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Training in assessment and meeting state standards is desirable. Must have or be willing to complete 18 graduate-level credits in German. Be willing to plan or provide students with opportunities to travel abroad. Willingness to coach or advise.
A variety of coaching and advising positions are typically open each year. Specifically, we are looking for advisors and coaches in debate, student council theater, tennis, football, track, volleyball, wrestling, and a variety of student organizations and clubs.
