One of our goals for our chapter this year was to raise funds to attend conferences and plan activities for our members. We decided to host an Eileen's Cookie Dough Fundraiser through November. Our goal was to sell 250 tubs of cookie dough, but our chapter exceeded that goal and sold over 401 tubs! We raised approximately $3,200! The cookie dough arrived just in time for holiday baking!
In November we joined forces with our FBLA chapter to host a canned food drive with our school buildings to donate to our local food pantry. Together, our groups collected over 350 food items. The food pantry was so thankful for our generosity!
Our chapter chose to start a new community service tradition in our schools and community collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House in Omaha. In our high school building, we made the pop tab collection a competition between each class. We collected tabs throughout December and January. The class with the most tabs collected won a root beer float party. In total this year, we collected 20 gallons of pop tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. During FCCLA week, chapter officers will deliver the tabs and volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House!
After attending the National Leadership Conference this past summer, our chapter officers were inspired by all the new members we met from across the country. We wanted another way to connect with members, so we started a chapter connections campaign! Our adviser posted on the National FCCLA Adviser Facebook group asking for chapters to send us a postcard and we'd write back! So far, we have received post cards from seven states. We love getting to hear from other chapters and see what they're doing too!
On Wednesday, January 21st, 2026, 25 Ord FCCLA Members traveled to Central Valley for the District 9 STAR Competition. There were over 100 participants, advisors, evaluators, and volunteers in attendance! Check out how our members did in the Awards tab!
For National FCCLA Week, our chapter celebrated each day to make members count, contribute to our community, and advocate for FCCLA. On Monday, we had a membership appreciation meeting. We had popcorn, candy, talked about events this month, and made FCCLA posters. On Tuesday, we had FCS Educator Day, and most members wrote a letter to Ms. Hornickel about how much we appreciate her. On Wednesday, it was FCCLA service day. We had everyone make Valentine's Day cards and treat bags. On Thursday, we had an Alumni Appreciation event. We had coffee and rolls for old and new FCCLA members.. On Friday, we had an FCCLA spirit day; the person who had the most FCCLA spirit won a prize.. We had a very successful FCCLA Week.Throughout the whole week, we encouraged everyone in our school to search for FCCLA logos around the school in a scavenger hunt!
In March our chapter had the privilege of going to Kearney to attend the 2023 Nebraska FCCLA Peer Education Conference. Our fellow member, Hannah Klein, Vice President of Membership, ran a session and taught other FCCLA members about careers. We were about to learn so much and had such a great time.
In April some of our members had the privilege to go to Lincoln for the State Leadership Conference. At the conference, we went on tours, competed in STAR Events and quiz bowl, listened to the keynote speaker, Harlem Globe Trotters, and explored downtown Lincoln. Two of our members were elected SPOT Officer positions and one other got a State Officer position. We are so proud! We had such a great time and learned so much!
Our community holds an annual kids fair every year. Every year we host a booth for kids to learn about our chapter. This year we had a Plinko game and taught kids about MyPlate and healthy nutrition.
This past year, we had 13 members qualify for the National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida. This was a great experience for our student members. We are excited for this coming year as we prepare for the National Leadership Conference in Washington DC!
Stay tuned for our upcoming events!!
