Explanation: In this assignment we had to complete a research paper on any issue. The goal of the assignment is to give students experience finding a variety of sources, learning about a topic, creating a thesis, and writing what they have learned in a formal paper.
Reflection: I've gotten to learn more about the Caribbean system through this assignment. Prior to my research I was aware that the system was corrupted but not to this level. In general this assignment gave me a deep understanding of real life events that affects the islands of the Caribbean.
Explanation: In this assignment we had to write an essay about the significant increase in participation among young voters. The questions to be answered were: What is the significance of the high number of young voters in the 2022 midterm elections? How does the increased number of young voters reshape the political climate?
Reflection: Before I never used to think of how the upcoming generation not voting could affect the whole country. But I have realized how we are the biggest upcoming group and the future and so we have to take a stand to make a great impact.
Explanation: The task was to create a poem or essay, a piece of art, or a video that addresses the cornerstones of democracy. You can write about voting rights (Does NJ adequately balance the need for lawful access to the ballot and election security? Address issues such as the expanding suffrage and the constitution, access to polls--voter identification laws, felon disenfranchisement, voter poll purges, individual vigilance, etc.), the second amendment (As a community, can we agree on a legal framework to address security, safety, and individual gun rights?
Reflection: I learned about the constitution, laws, and free speech while completing this assignment. I have never really paid attention or really remembered about voting but writing this essay I got to see just how much it affects our country.
Explanation: In this assignment we had to read 3 articles about climate change and write an essay using those articles or any other article about climate change to make a point. Those possible points would be whether climate change is good or bad.
Reflection: Through this essay I got to deepen my understanding of what is happening around our world regarding the climate. While I was always aware of the event since everyone mentions it at some point, I wasn't aware of the fact that it could lead to multiple extinctions so quickly.
